I am passionate about sustainability and the environment. I have always sourced my own furniture in vintage and second hand shops. It’s an easy way of having an original style without breaking the bank or destroying the environment. When the opportunity to open my own vintage furniture shop came up I didn’t need much persuading. I signed the lease, grabbed the keys and opened mebyl in 2016.
Personally, I hate an expensive second hand shop so I try to keep my prices as low as possible. Customers are often pleasantly surprised at our prices, especially as we are in Bath!
Mebyl is Cornish for furniture. My husband and I are Cornish so when we were thinking of a name for the shop, mebyl seemed perfect. Coincidentally it is also almost an anagram of my name, Emily.
